- [11/29/2005] Statement: CCNJ Statement on the Governor's new mandate on chemical plant security
The business of chemistry in New Jersey has been at the forefront of chemical plant security and safety. The industry didn't wait for legislation or an executive order to secure our plants and ensure the well-being of our workers and our communities. Chemical plant security is too important an issue for anyone to play politics with, but for reasons not clear to us, it seems the cooperative approach between the State and our sector is being abandoned. The prescriptive order seems to penalize early, responsible actors while adding requirements that have little to do with security.
Letters to The Editor
- [3/23/2007] Vigilantly protecting and defending New Jersey’s critical chemical infrastructure
The chemistry industry is extremely concerned with the use of beneficial products as a weapon. We have been concerned with the potential negative use of our products even before 9/11. We are actively working with our partners in government and industry to prevent similar incidents from occurring here.

The business of chemistry never takes the safety and security of our workers for granted. We have invested time and resources to ensure that we continuously train employees on strict safety procedures.
- [10/26/2005] Letter to the Editor: Response to Today's Sunbeam
Terrance Dopp's article, "Corzine plans tighter chemical security," (Oct. 21) fails to mention the many achievements and precedent setting security initiatives of the chemistry industry, and doesn't provide any public good by listing company names, their location and what chemicals they or may not have onsite.
